Our former rector has retired and we are in the process of searching for a new rector. We hope to have a new rector in early 2017.
Sallie Simpson was ordained as a Vocational Deacon in January 2014. Prior to that, she worked at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem for 42 years, first as a critical care nurse and then as a hospital administrator and director of supply chain. Sallie has a BS in Nursing from UNC- Chapel Hill and an MBA from Appalachian State. She has two sons – Jason is an anesthesiologist at Rex Hospital and Link is a counselor at Quail Hollow Middle School in Charlotte. Jason and his wife Julia have two children – Cole and Olivia. Sallie’s community ministry centers around helping disadvantaged people learn how to acquire and use food in the best way to improve their nutritional status. She is also very interested in end-of-life care. When she is not involved in community activities or in work at St Mark’s, you can find her in the garden, taking long walks or hikes, or preparing meals for friends and loved ones.
