Parish Life Commission is our community in action

At the Vestry retreat in February it was decided to combine the Developing Community Commission and the Newcomers Commission into one commission. With Vestry approval it was renamed Parish Life Commission to cover all the committees under its umbrella.
Parish Area Care These groups have been rejuvenated, redefined and, with the work of Margaret Thurston and Mike Wilson, all PACs are now active again.
Inreach Revived with the work of Joan Ellen Deck and Susan Aycock, former Stephen Ministers. They have developed a plan for training. With approval of procedure from John Wall and Sallie Simpson, there will be training for volunteers to be pastoral visitors, who, in addition to the clergy visits, will visit and care for our homebound and sick.
Events Committee With the lead of Meta Wilson, Allen Herther, Terry Wall and Joanne Bass, this group will plan for congregational dinners, our annual dinner and receptions for funerals, bishop’s visits, and other events. It is anticipated that we will hold more dinners and get-togethers through the year.
Community Time Peter Miller has received help from a team to make hosting of our after-church social hour easier and to get more sign-ups.
Newcomers Committee This group is brainstorming ideas for St. Mark’s to be welcoming to visitors, under the lead of Meta Wilson and Paul Roberts. This includes having greeters each Sunday and follow-ups after a visit to St. Mark’s.
Sports and Recreation Bob Ruf and Art Warner, ministers of sports and recreation, are seeking group activities to sporting events.
Kitchen We still need a team to make sure supplies are available for our meetings and events. It has been a successful beginning of the year and heartwarming to have so many people wearing many hats to make sure we are meeting the needs of our congregation.
